Rugs that are eco friendly

Our business headquarters is located in Detroit, MI. Now this may make some people think that we are fond of big industry and gas guzzling vehicles. The reality is that we have seen first hand what an aggressive use of our natural resources can result in. So how does all of this relate back to rugs?

In recent years we have sought out rugs that are friendlier to our environment...here is what we learned:

Wool: Rugs made of wool are the most eco friendly type that may be found. The reason for their strong rating is that wool rugs are produced almost entirely from a renewable resource. Selecting rugs made of wool results in many positives and only one negative. The fact that they are eco friendly is a strong point. But did you also know that wool rugs are super stain resistant and keep their new look much longer than synthetics? So what is the snag? The only thing to keep in mind is that wool rugs will likely fuzz at first. The reason for this is that a wool yarn is much shorter than a synthetic. The random yarns that don't make it tightly into the twisted spool of yarn will end up coming loose as you walk on them. Don't fear however, your new wool rugs will stop doing this after about 6 months. While that may seem like a long time, it really is not, especially considering that rugs made of wool will last so much longer than their synthetic counterparts, and you are doing a lot to spare the environment by selecting a natually occurring fiber.

I will be visiting this subject quite often. We are really excited about the big mix of rugs we offer in the eco friendly category. We go to many area rug conventions looking for eco friendly products. Not just because our customers are asking for them, but also because it is the right thing to do.
