Tis the Season

I am the type of person that loves to procrastinate. I am constantly putting off something that should be done so that I may do it at the very last minute or simply not at all. My mother use to say “procrastinating is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it gets you no where!” Everyone knows that Moms are always right.

One big thing I am good at procrastinating with is Christmas shopping! Come on now, how many people actually like to Christmas shop. Sure it is fun seeing the joy you bring a friend or family member when you give them that special gift, but who really likes going out in the cold, fighting to find a parking spot in a crowded parking lot, then pushing your way through a busy mall or store that is wall to wall packed with people but sold out of everything you are looking to buy.

Um, No thank you. In today’s world, Christmas shopping has become somewhat revolutionized. You can find anything on the internet these days. Sometimes it takes a little bit of searching, but you can find almost whatever it is you are looking for if you look hard enough. Well I procrastinate enough; I don’t have the time to do an intensive search. So for everyone out there who procrastinates just as much as I do, I’d like to make a suggestion....

At Rugs to My Door we have this nifty search option that allows you to narrow your search down to a T. You may search our rugs by the type of pattern that it has; choosing from a large variety of patterns such as traditional rugs, contemporary rugs, Floral designs, southwestern designs, rugs great for children’s rooms with bright colors and animated patterns, as well as braided, shag, and indoor/outdoor rugs!

Now what would you do if I told you the search gets better? Are you ready for this? We have what is called a “detailed search.” Okay, I know the name is not very exciting, but it is very self explanatory. If you click on the detailed search option on the left hand side of our website, it will allow you to find an area rug by specific styles, like college theme, holiday, and patriotism. You can narrow your search to what colors you want in the rug from basic Red, Brown, and Black to colors like Ivory, Salmon, and Gold. You can choose different shapes like octagon rugs, oval rugs, or runners, as well as a narrowed price range! Believe it or not you can choose whether you want an area rug made in China, India, Egypt and France.

With that said, I have some words of wisdom. “Procrastinating is like doing your Christmas shopping in a mall. It gives you something to do (albeit stressfully!!) but it gets you no where!” So check out Rugs to My Door. There are no angry shoppers just a stylish new look that is a click away.

A New Obsession

Up until the day that I started working at Rugs to My Door, I never paid much attention to the floor. There was just too much to see at eye level. Being a habitual people watcher, my wandering eyes scanned for pretty faces, amusing outfits, outlandish personalities, you get the idea. The only time my gaze lingered towards the floor was if I were checking out the shoes a person had the guts to wear with the outfit that they were wearing.

Two years in an industry that revolves around area rugs will definitely altar your habitual routines. I never realized how big of a deal area rugs are! We have customers calling from all over the world. The other day I received an email from Sydney, Australia! I get calls from customers looking for the perfect colors. It has to be crimson red, not cranberry red. Specific patterns, shapes, and sizes because they have oblong tables in a triangular room. You name it, I have heard it.

These years of helping customers find their perfect rug, I have seen A LOT of area rugs. I’ll be honest, some of the rugs I find are just not my type. I've seen everything from plain rugs to rugs with some really awesome patterns as well. I've seen traditional rugs and floral rugs but to tell the truth I’m more of a contemporary girl myself. One of these days I am going to get my hands on a rug from Oriental Weaver’s Lava Collection.

Staring at these rugs must have scrambled something in my brain. Now if I go out to the store, a restaurant, a person’s home, I am still looking at pretty faces, amusing outfits, and outlandish personalities. However, these days my gaze tends to wander to the floor as well. I’m looking at area rugs from a whole new perspective. I catch myself wondering if we sell that collection on our website. I have looked at the quality of some rugs and thought to myself “boy they could really go with a nice wool fiber instead of this nylon mess.” Believe it or not, I have gone as far as to lift up a rug, just to see who makes the thing! It has become a new obsession of mine to pick out area rugs for rooms of any building I happen to be in. The other day at my Grandma’s I mentally placed area rugs I liked in her kitchen, dining room and living room!

If you have never really thought about area rugs take a minute to do just that. Look at your floors. Sure you have perfectly good carpet, or nice hard wood floors. But imagine adding a bit of color, a dash of style, to an otherwise ordinary space. Trust me when I say the possibilities are endless.

Kid's Activity Rugs

I saw a beautiful royal blue rug and the size was 8 “X 10” in the area for children to play. There was a pink table with five small pink chairs for small children. At the table were three children and each child was engaged in a different activity. The first little boys were playing with a small red car. He was rolling it across the table and moving to the floor he rolled it around the other children. The little boy was really enjoying playing with his car and pretending that he was driving. The second little boy was stacking blocks of many colors like bright red, sea green, sunshine yellow and sky blue. He would build a stack and take it apart over and over again. The last child was a little girl and she was coloring pages from Elmo’s coloring book. There was a dazzling pink book shelf to match the table and chairs. The book shelves contain books such as Highlight for children, Sesame Street with Big Bird along with the favorite character Elmo. There were many coloring books for the children to select from. The majestic blue rug highlighted the wall mural which showed a picture of children playing on a playground. The mural was an international portrait of children of all races, colors and national origins. The children were engaged in many activities in the picture. For example, some of the children were playing on the jungle bars, the swings, or walking, or running on the boardwalk, and playing in the sand box. The many colors in the mural enhanced the royal blue rug which really looked pleasant on the floor. Another motivation for using the royal blue rug as a good choice for a children area would be the color, practical and durable.
Rugs to My Door offers you many practical rugs to keep children occupied while you may be doing other important things.
