Rugs of a different color
I recently went on a camping trip. Since joining Rugs To My Door, I have found myself increasingly attached to technological gadgets which really does make the work life more efficient, but over time it also can raddle my nerves a bit. So I decided to go to a place where a cell signal cannot be found and just relax with mother nature.
Upon returning back home, I was amazed at how vivid my home looked to me. I suppose staying in the woods for a week where things are essentially "earth tones" caused my eyes to see my home in a new light. So what is my point? Basically, I want to encourage you to think outside your comfort zone a bit. Consider what your home might look like with some new brighter colors on the walls and how a brightly colored new area rug might make the home feel fresh and new.
A really great thing to do is to start with the rugs as the focal point if at all possible then build the room around it. Usually however things occur exactly opposite of this. I am guilty of this myself and actually chose the rug for my kitchen three years after I moved into my house. I settled on a bamboo rug that goes with the cabinets and the floors really well. Since it is bamboo, I can clean it up pretty easily just by using a damp rag if I make a spill-which I do nearly all the time :(
For the living room there is a brightly colored rug that really makes the room come to life. The rug is made of wool and has served me well for nearly six years. It still looks brand new despite the traffic that goes across it and the abuse it takes thanks to my occasional clumsiness.
My point in all this is to just encourage you to go with your gut when it comes to color. Don't settle for beige, go for the gusto. After getting home from my camping trip...it was great to be re-connected to all my electronic gadgetry and really exciting to see how bright and fun a boldly colored rug made my living room look. I for one am glad I thought outside my comfort zone when I chose it.
Until next time, thanks for reading. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. I am happy to help.
Kindly,
Wes.
