Eco Friendly Rugs

In some instances, trying to determine what is the most eco friendly option in a product can prove to be a real challenge. The great thing about rugs however, is there are a few choices that stand out almost immediately as being just the perfect balance of environmentally conscious and still quite resilient and fashionable.
The foremost of these is wool. So the team at Rugs To My Door has taken some of their hottest selling wool rugs and put them into a category that is easy to browse. Details about eco friendly rugs may be found here in a previous entry I made.

If you want to do a quick browse of some of our most popular eco friendly rugs, then take a look at this assortment for starters. The great thing is that area rugs from their inception were actually made of wool. It wasn't until the 197os that the floor covering industry began to manufacturer mass quantities of synthetic fibers that were meant to emulate wool. The reason was to drive the cost of the item down for the consumer. Then the law of supply and demand kicked in and the price of the base product used to make synthetic rugs went up significantly.

So now eco friendly rugs are very reasonably priced and are easier on the environment so it is a win-win. Take a look at some of our eco friendly rug options. When we first put them up, I was personally surprised by the big assortment and range of styles that were offered. I use wool rugs in my home and could not be happier with them. There are a few other options for those looking for eco friendly rugs. They include sisal, coir, seagrass, bamboo just to name a few. I chose to focus on wool because it is the most versatile and easy to maintain of all fibers being offered. An eco friendly rug may be just the thing you are looking for to both brighten your home and soften impact on the environment.

Thanks again for reading. Let me know any questions you may have, etc. Until next time-be well.

828 Rugs

828 Rugs have joined the already huge assortment of rug companies that Rugs To My Door offers. So why did we add 828 Rugs to our store? Well once you look at their incredible assortment, I am sure you will realize for yourself, but let me tell you a few reasons :)

828 Rugs has patterns that range from timelessly elegant traditional patterns such as their Greenville Collection. The Greenville Collection of rugs by 828 has an unbelievable 1,000,000 pieces of yarn in every single square meter. What does this mean to you? Two things. First it allows for a highly defined and intricate pattern. Also, the Greenville Collection is very resilient to traffic because of it's ultra dense construction. 828's Greenville Collection of rugs has the best of both worlds for those that like a traditional look that is really low maintenance. Just take a look at their Persian Panel pattern. The impeccable balance of pattern is offset with subtle hues of brick and black. The inspiring fashions that 828 offers is not limited only to their traditional patterns though. 828 Rugs is also known for some fun casual looks.

The contemporary patterns certainly have not eluded the team of designers at 828 Rugs. Their fiercely avant garde Watercolors Collection is carefully hand tufted of 100% Wool, yet retails at only $338 for a full 5x8 size. The luxury and softness of wool cannot be overstated. 828 Rugs took this to another level though with their use of stippling, which give the rug a deep and rich appearance by blending colors very closely to one another by hand. The Watercolors Collection is then scrubbed in the finishing process to ensure a lustrous glimmer that can only be seen in an all wool area rug. We just had not seen a collection with this sort of quality for such a reasonable retail in your several years of selling rugs, so the Watercolors Collection was a big reason why we decided to add 828 Rugs to our assortment.

The wide assortment of 828 Rugs does not end here however. 828 even offers a delightful assortment of whimsical rugs in their Accents Collection. This all cotton series of patterns is ideal for a vacation home or beach side getaway. Since they are made of cotton, these rugs are naturally absorbent and have impressively bold colors. Their underwater pattern shown here shows the versatility of the fashion team at 828 Rugs.

So from traditional to contemporary and even the occasional fun pattern, 828 Rugs is an incredible source to add just the right bit of style and intrigue to your home decor.

As always, thanks for reading. Leave a comment if you like, and I hope you take some time to go outside and enjoy some of this most wonderful time of the year. Being a Detroiter, I tend to get Spring fever, so the warm weather and sunshine came just in time. I hope you have a great weekend :)

Wondering what type of rugs would be absolutely perfect for your home? Well if you fret most about stains then the answer to your question is super easy! Just choose any of the hundreds of rugs in our Family Friendly assortment! We are so confident that our Family Friendly Rugs are just the thing for you rhome that we back them by a 10 year guarantee against staining.

We were so excited about the addition of these new rugs to our site that we recently sat down with Wes Jenkins at Rugs To My Door's headquarters in Detroit, MI. Here is what was said:

HA: Thank you for sitting down with me.

Wes: Of course! I am glad we were able to talk about this incredible new assortment of rugs.

HA: Me too. When I first read about Family Friendly rugs I wondered what the rugs would look like. I mean, a rug that is guaranteed not to stain for ten years just seems unbelieveable.

Wes: I know. I was a little wary myself. I even bought a white Family Friendly rug and put it in my main entry way. Then I walked on it. I walked on it and walked on it. Staff walked on it, UPS walked on it...I think you get the idea.

HA: So how did it look?

Wes: Well I intentionally did not clean it for a few days. It became filthy. Then I used some resolve and water on it and the stains all came out. It was truly amazing.

HA: That is really interesting.

Wes: It was amazing to watch it all come out looking so clean. Rugs are meant to be walked on but for them to come out looking so clean after that much traffic. That got me excited about this new series.

HA: OK well thank you for your time.

Wes: You are very welcome. So take a look at the rugs yourself. The patterns are really great looking and the range of sizes they offer is really great.

Rugs for both inside AND out

Rugs that can be used indoor have been around for hundreds of years. Plus-rugs that can be used outdoors have been in existence nearly as long. The really exciting thing about rugs now though is that many patterns can be used both indoors and outdoors. The quality of some of our patterns has been enhanced. What does this mean? Well normally an outdoor rug would be very flat and therefore a bit less appropriate for indoor applications. But with the newest constructions flatweave rugs have given way to a more plush looped construction-in some cases hooked rugs.

So how are these sort of rugs able to be outdoors? The fiber is a highly advanced space-aged polymer that allows a significant reduction is staining, mildew and other issues that normally tear up an outdoor rug.

So please take a look at some of the great looking new rugs that are available for both indoor and outdoor use. The rugs are ideal to be used outdoors, and work great indoors as well especially in a kitchen or other room that takes a whole lot of stuff getting thrown at it such as a mud room or laundry room.

Life is good...the weather is improving, and I see my neighbors starting up their barbeque grills. So begin enjoying the outdoors and you can do it barefoot with some really great soft plush rugs from our super groovy site.

Season's Change

As winter gives way to Spring and Spring to Summer, I am reminded that the hues seen in our great outdoors can be a great way to bring nature's beauty inside. I personally like to change out my area rugs from season to season. Depending on the room I may choose a much brighter rug in the summer than winter or surprisingly the exact opposite.

For instance, I have a very bold rug in my livingroom. I use it only in the winter months since the room tends to look rather dull otherwise. On the other side of the home that tends to get more sun drenched, I use a darker rug in the summer season to help offset the incredible amount of light that pours in during the brighter days.

When I first got into this habit, I was perplexed with what I should do with the rugs that I was not going to be using until the next season. That is when I just installed some racks that hang from the studs of my ceiling in the garage. Now I just roll up my rugs and store them out of the way until the next season comes along where I can use them again.

The other great thing about using different rugs for the varying seasons is that you get twice the wear out of the rugs before it comes time to replace them. It is important to follow the rule of rotating your rugs for even wear. Why not take it a step further by having a given rug for each season. It will brighten your mood, the room and just make for a fun point upon which to style the rest of your home decor.

Let me know your thoughts, opinions or suggestions. I hope you have a great Tuesday...and get out and enjoy some of the great weather!

Spotlight on Oriental Weavers Rugs

What goes into making a really great area rug? More than you might think, actually. We recently sat down and ranked all of the suppliers we work with to determine who the best of the best was. It took a good deal of effort, and there were some ties on down the line, but the one supplier that really stood out was Oriental Weavers.

Oriental Weavers, also known as Sphinx by Oriental Weavers markets its products under two brands. Sphinx is the name that many Americans associate with this international rug company. The Sphinx brand offers goods from fashion groups including even the most incredibly forward thinking Andy Warhol Home line. The flagship Sphinx name is presented by this logo

while the other brand is Oriental Weavers of America which is represented with this graphic:

Regardless of the brand the item is being marketed under, there are a few things that are consistent with Oriental Weavers rugs.

1)Quality control leads the industry. What does this mean for you? Well it means that when you receive your new rugs they will be first quality and inspected to ensure that they are what you wanted when you placed your order.

2)Style and Design. Oriental Weavers has product stylists all over the globe. They research styling direction from the runways of Milan to the small eastern markets that may be hold the very early examples of where trends are headed. They bring these findings together to assemble some of the most fashion forward styles and designs that our industry has seen.

3)Color. While style and design in area rugs is important, the Oriental Weavers team is wise enough to know that color is an integral part of a successful area rug pattern. It is with thin inmind that they coordinate the most fiercely fashionable rugs with authentic colors from both yesteryear and today. They even go so far as to team up with furniture manufacturers such as Lane to better understand where color trends are not only today but tomorrow.

4)It is in stock. If you want a really great looking rug the Oriental Weavers is a great company to shop with. If you want a really great looking rug now, then Oriental Weavers is THE company to shop with. This is because Oriental Weavers has a 1,200,000 square foot warehouse outside Atlanta, GA. They stock so many of their internationally crafted rugs that getting the rug you want when you want it is a sure thing.

So as you browse our assortment of over 65,000 rugs you would be very well served to search first by brand and see what Oriental Weavers has to offer. They have assembled an industry leading business through years of dedication to the four things I mentioned above. Take a look at their rugs and I think you too will be convinced that rugs by Sphinx or Oriental Weavers of America lead the way in more ways than one.
For some outside information about Oriental Weavers and their long and respected history in the area rug industry this makes for a really great read.

Until next time, thanks for reading again and get at me with any questions. Have a great Wednesday :)

It's a cover up!

We all know about redecorating a space with great new wall colors and a new floor-maybe laminate like Pergo or even hard wood. When it is all done and you step back choosing some rugs to dress it up even more can be a lot of fun and really finish the place off. This said, redecorating a room is not the only time for adding a rug to a space. Sometimes mistakes happen that result in a floor being damaged. Well I say what better way to fix it than to cover it up with a new rug? It is a lot easier than tearing up the entire floor. It is often a lot cheaper than tearing up the whole thing and less messy. What's more, the finished product ends up looking a lot more exciting too!

Look at it this way. You have a white ceramic floor that gets nicked, much like this photograph. So you can do one of two things:

1)You call a contractor then you have to empty out the entire room, have the floor torn out which creates huge amounts of dust, then you have the new floor put in (and sometimes it has to set for 24 hours before you can walk on it) then you drag all the furniture back in and you are back to umm...what are you back to exactly? The floor will look pretty much the same as it did when this whole thing got started-minus the damage to it, of course.

2)You order a rug-it shows up on your doorstep-you move the furniture to the perimeter of the room-you roll out the rug over the damaged area-you put the furniture back and you watch a movie.

Plus you get the added benefit of having a new rug that looks really stylish and fresh. The fact it covers up a blemish on the floor is an added bonus.
Sure I am a little biased with respect to the whole rug thing, but really step back and think about it. It really does make a lot of sense. If you have any questions or want to share your thoughts hit me up any time...I love reading your comments, questions and all that good stuff.
