Rugs for busy homes

I went to visit my Aunt the other day, and was amazed at how busy their home was. The kids are really growing up now and between that and the dogs that run through the family room, their carpet was really looking old.

She was talking about how worn out her carpet looked but that it was too disruptive to the house to move all the furniture and pull up all the old carpet. That is when I suggested she just cover up the old carpet with a new rug. If you measure the room, you can even get a rug that is nearly the same size as the room. Plus with a rug pad from us that is sticky on both sides, you do not have to worry about whether the rugs will bunch up or not.

Anyhow, she took my advice and ordered a rug that had all the colors in her sofa and side chairs, plus a bit of the dark brown that can be found as an accent color from her tables and entertainment stand. The room ended up looking really fresh and new, and all it took was a single new rug to cover up the spotted carpet.

Oriental Weavers Rugs

Oriental Weavers rugs are known for being very well fashioned. But what else can be said of Oriental Weavers? Well for that we recently turned to Wes Jenkins at the Detroit office of Rugs To My Door.

HA: Good Morning Wes. Thank you for sitting down with me.
WJ: You are welcome Harry.
HA: So, Oriental Weavers is a really big brand these days. I understand you used to work for them. What more can you tell me?
WJ: In any major corporation, there are a lot of moving parts. Oriental Weavers is no exception to this. They manufacture rugs on wilton looms outside Cairo, Egypt and Atlanta, Georgia USA. These goods are woven of either polypropylene or wool. Oriental Weavers also tufts area rugs in both India and China.
HA: Why does Oriental Weavers source it's rugs from so many different places?
WJ: Certain manufacturing types lend themselves to certain styling types. For instance, a highly intricate traditional pattern is best crafted on a wilton loom, where a petit point appearance can be achieved whereas if the goal is to have a heavy thick area rug, then hand tufted is the way to go.
HA: I see. From my experiences, Oriental Weavers is not the only rug company that makes rugs using all these different methods. What sets them apart?
WJ: A few things. Styling and design are very important. Also very important is inventory. If one of our customers chooses an area rug that is made in India and they have to wait for it to actually be made, the delay can be several months. Oriental Weavers has a 1.2 million square foot warehouse in Dalton, GA so order delays are relatively rare with them.
HA: I recently read about a Family Friendly Warranty for area rugs. Tell me more.
